Ever heard of Edward L. Bernays? Not
many people have. Anyone who is anyone in the Public Relations industry
has. They study his methods - even today. Bernays, otherwise known
as... 'The Father of Spin' single handedly moulded the beliefs, habits and
attitudes to living of everyone who lived in Australia since 1930 - he STILL
influences us today! In his first book, "Propaganda" which was
first published in 1928, here are a couple of quotes:
"The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions
of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who
manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government
which is the true ruling power of our government."
"We are governed, our minds are moulded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested,
largely by men we have never heard of. This is the logical result of the way in
which our democratic society is organized."
